Stone &
Wood Sculpture / Schedule 2007
|
This course is designed to teach each student how to work
directly in stone or wood. We will cover direct carving
techniques using chisel and hammer as well as pneumatic
tools. This subtractive process shows students how to block
out their image from a solid mass and unify the image with
contour and form. Finishing techniques, polishing and
mounting will also be covered. The creative direction is up
to the individual, figurative, non-figurative, organic
forms, hardedge or geometric. Students are encouraged to
come to class prepared with an idea of what they would like
to accomplish in this workshop. Beginners through advanced
students are welcome.
